In August 1910, at the conference of socialist women in Copenhagen, Clara Zetkin's proposal to celebrate a holiday was adopted with the aim of fighting for peace, equal rights for women and men in work, wages, and education, against human trafficking and child labor exploitation... March 8th - International Women's Day today is only an occasion for profit through entertainment and beautification of women, thus suppressing the original character of the holiday. The position of women in our society is still unequal, and acquired rights are perpetually threatened to be taken away. International Women's Day is a reason to remember the struggles of our predecessors and to highlight the problems women face in our society today. Dr. Mirjana Dokmanović earned her doctorate at the ACIMSI Center for Gender Studies at the University of Novi Sad, a scientific advisor at the Center for Legal Research of the Institute of Social Sciences in retirement (Belgrade), co-founder and member of the Center for Women's Studies in Subotica (1997-2004). Dr. Margareta Bašaragin earned her doctorate at the ACIMSI Center for Gender Studies at the University of Novi Sad, she is the commissioner of the Novi Sad branch of the Association "Women's Studies and Research" in Subotica.
