The presentation of the work of Krzysztof Czyżewski, a Polish author, and one of the initiators of the Borderland Foundation in Sejny, Poland, will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the space of Klara i Rosa (Petefi Sandora 15).

During the promotion, we will present two books „The Ethos of the Borderland“ and „A Small Centre of the World“, published in Serbian language by the publisher XX Vek with the support of the Polish Institute.

Krištof Čiževski (Varšava, 1958) je pisac, izdavač, fotograf i glumac. Glumio je u prvom ansamblu antropološkog pozorišta „Smeće“ (1978-1983) i uređivao je podzemni časopis. 1990. postao je jedan od inicijatora Fondacije „Granično područje“ i njen predsednik. 1991. osnovao je Centar „Granično područje kultura, umetnosti, naroda“ i postao njegov direktor. To je kulturna institucija koosnovana od strane Ministarstva kulture i nacionalne baštine i Vlade regionalne skupštine Podlaskog vojvodstva. Centar se nalazi u malom gradu Sejny, bivšem „štetlu“, na poljsko-litvansko-beloruskoj granici. „Granično područje“ revitalizovalo je jevrejski kvart u centru grada i ima svoje studije za umetničke i obrazovne programe u bivšoj hebrejskoj gimnaziji, ješivi i sinagogi.
