Death represents a fundamental enigma for humanity. By deciphering death, individuals from various eras essentially define their existence. Reflecting on the spectacle of death, one may perceive oneself as an eternal soul or a finite organism, for example. Contemporary individuals, however, seem to have transformed their relationship with death into a fear of life, determining their self-perception as anxiety, no longer so often contemplating what death entails, but, seemingly absurdly, what life entails. Is this apparent absurdity a consequence of confronting the absurdity (meaninglessness) of existence due to the abandonment of traditional answers, or is it the result of unfinished nihilism, living in a chasm between inherited yet meaningless responses and new, still unclear solutions?
The discussion will be led by Boris Čegar, a philosophy professor.
