Grounding 2 – Retreat in Utrine
The Grounding retreat program was born from the need to support, empower, and connect female activists, and artists who work with the community. This year’s regional meeting includes women from Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Greece and Hungary. The participants of the second activist-artistic retreat „Grounding 2“, which will take place from July 9th to 15th in Utrine are:

Zita Thury is from Budapest, Hungary. She is a freelance choreographer and performer in the field of contemporary dance.
In her works, she addresses social issues not only through movement but also by incorporating elements of performance and video art with a documentarian approach Her artistic work is defined by a participatory, sensitizing, collaborative, and process-oriented approach. She is planning to share a relaxation-movement session that deals with control, activity and total passivity.

Angela Szilagyi (1984) from Ajka, Hungary is a writer, poet and Septum Worker.
She is interested in psychology, trauma work and how this translates to artistic representation. Currently working for the Synchromesh project, she is developing a radiodrama along with her co- writer. For her, the most important thing in creating art is the accessibility, and the way to deal with resistance we all have against experiences that inconvenience us. She likes to explore and react to the questions raised in social media about womenhood and fear.

Marija Farmer, living in Belgrade, Serbia, physical theatre director and performer, theatre trainer/teacher, poetry writer and trainer of programs for personal, social and organizational development using theatre and creative expression.
Owner of the consulting agency Marija Farmer & The Good Cats that creates and delivers theatre training programs and events. Author and trainer of The Small Academy of Physical, Expressive and Devised Theatre in Belgrade. Writer and director of numerous theatre performances (art) and numerous applied theatre performances for social change (artivism).

Maja Vujačić, born 1986. in Bar, Montenegro. Feminist, herbalist and cultural worker. Interested in exploring ways of resistance through synergy of human imagination and ecosystem at large. Currently working on a project titled Mycelium – a transformative and regenerative feminist network with the goal of transnational community building through eco-feminist actions.

Bea Kovács (1991) from Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureș, Romania is a Hungarian writer, editor, theater critic, and cultural journalist.
She practices personal storytelling as a writer, preferring first-person narratives and intimate formats that explore individual experiences and emotions. As a journalist, she writes about contemporary art and culture, makes in-depth portraits and interviews, and publishes opinion pieces on various issues and socio-cultural phenomena. Bea is a fond explorer of psychogeography and situationist forms of expression.

Jasmina Runevska from Skopje, North Macedonia, is an artist and educator.
Her interdisciplinary work bridges visual arts, ecofeminism, and postcolonial studies, focusing on critical societal engagement through creative practice. With degrees in visual arts and comparative literature, she has participated in numerous international exhibitions and residencies. At the Grounding Retreat, she will share methods exploring virtual versus real reality and the way we create stories, integrating subjective mapping and the flow of unconsciousness to foster interactive and inclusive learning environments.

Delia Riciu is from Bucharest, Romania.
She has been teaching and performing improvisational theatre for 16 years. She is interested in exploring more of its potential both as a social instrument and as art form. The practice she will be sharing focuses on intimacy, connection and relationships through play.

Frantzeska Boutsi (1996) from Argos, Greece, is a visual artist and art teacher.
.
Her work revolves around decay, mortality and social roles. She finds interest in nature and folklore culture while she’s experimenting with various weaving techniques. She teaches art courses to Public Primary Schools.

Mihaela Cîrjan (b. 1985) from Bucharest, Romania, is a cultural manager, context creator and a curious curator.
She works in collaboration with artists and artistic collectives from different cultural backgrounds or with her own ideas, with a focus on creating interdisciplinary collaborative contexts guided by the threads that unite feminist, posthuman, queer and decolonial thinking.

Eva Papadopoulos (Zenaide) is a multimodal dance artist, teacher, and healer from Athens, Greece.
Her focus in performance is on vocal somatics and multi-modal approaches using audiovisual technologies. Over the last five years, her work has concentrated heavily on trauma healing, shadow work, and biodynamic craniosacral therapy, redirecting her artistic practice more towards community and social approaches to art-making processes including neurotypical and neurodivergent groups of all ages.

Mădălina Muscă is an activist, sociologist, explorer, educator and organiser at Politeia Association and beyond, currently based in Bucharest.
She has always been interested in how her actions can contribute to social justice, from her pedagogical endeavors, to her Phd in Sociology or the research, activist or cultural projects she has been engaged in.

Ana Dragic (born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1988) is an independent art manager and curator.
After returning from United States, as Fellow of the Open Society Foundation Undergraduate Exchange program, she switches her professional focus from Journalism to Cultural Management, initiating successful collaborations with young Serbian and Kosovar artists (presenting them in different festivals in the region and Europe).
